Following the devastating fire that destroyed the HWRCC pavilion in the very early hours of Thursday, 7 September, the club and members of its Committee have been overwhelmed by the supportive messages and offers of help received. A huge thank you to everyone who has shown their support so far. It has not been possible to respond to all correspondence yet, but rest assured, we will read it all and respond appropriately as soon as we can.

As a Committee we are now formulating a plan for the immediate next steps. We are pleased to report the emergency services and our insurers are already cooperating constructively with us. We are also in touch with other key stakeholders such as the Royal Parks, the Surrey Championships league, Harlequins Amateur RFC, Surrey CCC, Middlesex CCC and others.

The Main Committee and our Juniors Cricket leadership team are meeting next week to flesh out our initial plans. Very quickly we are looking to establish two core work streams:
1. The Pavilion Rebuild Team and
2. The Fundraising Team

The leaders of these teams will be announced very shortly, but in the meantime if you have experience, professional or otherwise, that could help in these areas and the governance thereof, please let me or any of the Main Committee members know.

Please bear with us and we will continue to provide regular updates on our website and social media channels.

Thanks once again for all your immense support. It would be remiss of me not to mention the shift Ben Houghton has put in already. Ben was first on the scene with the fire brigade yesterday morning and has already done so much to help us navigate the chaos of the last 24 hours.

The Wick phoenix will rise from the ashes better and stronger.
