Empowering the Next Generation

Girls’ cricket at Hampton Wick Royal CC is led by James Watson, an outstanding coach whose work was recognised with the Surrey County Cricket Club Coach of the Year award in 2025, among many other accolades. Under James’s leadership, the girls’ section has become one of the fastest-growing and most exciting parts of the club.

At HWRCC, girls’ cricket is about much more than learning the game. We want every girl to feel welcomed, supported and inspired — whether she is picking up a bat for the first time, playing with friends, or working towards representative cricket. Our aim is to create an environment where players develop skills, confidence, resilience and a real love of the game.

Our philosophy combines high-quality coaching with enjoyment, friendship and personal growth. We are proud to have a brilliant team of dedicated coaches who support players at every stage of their development. To further inspire and challenge our girls, we also bring in current and former professional cricketers to deliver specialist masterclasses.

We offer clear pathways for players of all levels and ambitions. Our girls’ teams compete in both Middlesex and Surrey leagues, giving players regular opportunities to test themselves in competitive cricket. We are also especially proud of our Girls’ State School Cricket Academy, an innovative initiative designed to make cricket more accessible and to create a direct route for local talent into club cricket.

Whether a player wants to enjoy cricket socially, develop as part of a team, or aim for elite representation, we want HWRCC to be a safe, positive and inspiring place for her to grow — as a cricketer and as a person.
