Man of the match: | D Higgins |
Prat of the match: | Zak Colliers Wicket keeping. |
The Wick bowled first on a slightly green pitch with Ben Longhurst opening and bowling brilliantly (1-19 off 7) and Kiran supporting him very well with (1-33 off 8). Then the spinners came on who made up the majority of the team and did well to restrict the Longtail batsmen, with Jivraj who occasionally got hit for a boundary able to keep his head up and bowl very well (1-35 off 6).
In the field the Wick were pretty strong with a few mishaps but nothing major. The keeping to start with was questionable as Collier took the gloves for the first 16 overs and kept as badly as he bowled the day before. A special thanks to Harry for taking over. The Wick restricted Longtail to 243 which we thought was chaseable.
After tea it was Collier and Mandeep to open. With the Longtail bowlers, not anything to worry about Collier felt he could get the innings going with a big shot and you can imagine what happened next. Duncan then came out to bat and batted superbly to make 49. Mandeep supported well in Duncan’s first few overs to bat well for 13. With Mandeep out Suggs came to the crease and made two before being given out lbw very controversially and then Harry came to bat, took his guard, took a stride forward to defend the ball, out lbw for a golden.
Now, Charles Edmonds came out to bat and had informed everyone that he’d charge to the first ball, everyone thought he’d be out one way or another but he survived and went on to top score with 58 after a ‘classy’ innings. Jivraj showed good control before being bowled for 6. Jacob after bowling well also batted well making a start before being caught for 13. Ollie Morjaria came to bat and made 8. With Ben Longhurst and Kiran the last two in they decided not to hang about they both made 12 quite quickly before Kiran decided to run and Ben didn’t and Kiran was run out. That concluded the Wick chase as we made 194 chasing 243.
