Hello and welcome to week 4 at the WICK!

Before we get started, a bit of housekeeping… we have a small number of players that have yet to pay their
membership fees – we appreciate that this is more than likely to be an oversight, but we would like all outstanding fees to be settled by 26 May 2019.

We’d also like to remind you that anyone representing the club in matches (all age groups)
must wear whites, including a club shirt and cap (if you wear one). Club shirts can be brought online by visiting our kit supplier, Serious Sport.

Finally, this Sunday saw the start our All Stars programme and with over 40 children registered it was a busy morning! Parking will continue to be difficult, so we do strongly recommend that you walk if you live locally. If not, parking can be found on nearby streets (e.g. Church Grove / Sandy Lane).

Match results and reports

U9s narrowly lose out to Indian Gymkhana in front of bumper crowd

The U9s made their debut on the main square last Sunday and with a bumper crowd cheering them on they fell just short of the finishing line – losing by 9 runs to Indian Gymkhana. A special mention goes to Ranveer Dangi who on debut bowled superbly and top scored with 20 not out! And a big shout to Holly Gaylor, Parina Singh and Chloe Kingston who all played magnificently.

U10s suffer back to back defeats

The Wick U10s bowled and fielded well to dismiss Barnes for 117 in their first-ever South Middlesex game. The damage was done by MoM Sam Flinn and Ted Shippin who both took 2 wickets each and 3 excellent run-outs! The reply was solid but the Wick U10s finished an agonising 14 runs behind the target for the loss of only 4 wickets… Sam top scored with a scintillating 25 not out!

The U10s lost another close contest later in the week– this time to East Molesey in the West Surrey League. East Molesey batting first scored 291/5 with
Tom Gaylor taking 3 wickets. The Wick U10s fell 19 runs short, finishing on 272/8 with Cormack Gray Fahy top scoring.

U11s blown away by Wycombe House

The U11s lost to an impressive Wycombe House team. Batting first Wycombe House posted 95 all out – Will Hardy was the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets. The Wick U11s managed 65 all out in 15.2 overs… a disappointing defeat after bowling and fielding so well.

U12s lose to Sunbury in the last over

The Wick U12s lost a closely fought match against Sunbury! After winning the toss and electing to bat, the U12s posted an impressive 138/6 off their 20 overs, with Ryder Emmerson (30) and Olly Spray (47) doing the damage. However, this proved not to be enough, with Sunbury chasing down the total in 19.2 overs for the loss of 5 wickets. A tough defeat to take on a bitterly cold evening!

U13s lose out to Hampton Hill and Malden Wanderers

Defeats to Hampton Hill (by 8 wickets) and Malden Wanderers (by 62 runs) gave the Wick U13s a tough week. In the local derby against Hampton Hill, the U13s posted a slightly below par 98/6 which included a 26 from Jivraj Singh. This was never going to be enough and Hampton Hill knocked off the runs with 5 overs to go.

Sunday’s game in the Mid-Surrey league saw the Wick U13s lose to an impressive Malden Wanderers team. Malden set the team a formidable 168/4 to win. Despite the best efforts of
Leo Morjaria to Wick U13s could only manage 106/9.

WICK U15s REMAIN UNBEATEAN!

The Wick U15s posted a daunting 139/5 v Hampton Hill in the South Middlesex league with Olly Coles hitting a delightful 52! Hampton Hill should never have been in the chase but a few lapses in concentration allowed them to reach 111/7. Tom Dunmore and Jivraj Singh both bagged 2 wickets each… this win was followed up with a comprehensive victory over Barnes in the Mid-Surrey league on Sunday!

An impressive bowling display saw Barnes restricted to 105/9 off 24 overs! Christopher Cole was the pick of the bowlers with 4 wickets! The chase was a bit of a non-event with the target being reached within 11 overs – Luca Fooks was the star of the show with 50 not out.

The U15s are sitting pretty at the top of the Mid-Surrey and South Middlesex leagues. So, it comes as no surprise to see Mark Steans named Wick Manager of the month!
