Hampton Wick Royal Cricket Club has been established for more than 150 years. Based in the beautiful settings of Bushy Park, we’re a family-oriented club that helps junior cricketers of all ages and abilities develop within a safe and fun environment.

We have several options for children’s cricket at Hampton Wick. For our youngest members we have ECB All Stars, for those graduating All Stars or new to cricket we have ECB Dynamos which is new for 2021 and we run junior cricket alongside these programmes for children aged 7 to 17. The ECB programmes are managed centrally by the ECB with session plans determined nationally. The Junior Cricket programme is run by HWRCC head coach, and former Danish national coach, Simon Talbot.

Parents play a key role in the cricket experience of our juniors. With oversight from qualified and professional coaches we encourage parents to be involved in running All Stars, Dynamos and Junior Cricket sessions. Many parents go on to become qualified coaches and develop their own coaching skills as their children improve their cricketing skills. This approach provides strong continuity from year to year, and from the training ground to the cricket pitch, and helps our junior players develop their cricket ability. The location for all summer cricket is at the club in Bushy Park (the corner nearest Kingston Bridge). We are fortunate to have three cricket pitches giving us capacity to have all our cricket onsite. Winter training is on Sunday afternoons from January to March at Tiffin Boys’ School Sports Centre.

The cricket pavilion is open and serving hot and cold drinks and snacks during all summer training sessions. This provides parents with an opportunity to socialise during and after cricket sessions and increases the team spirit of our spectators across the age groups. We also run regular social events during ‘normal’ years.

We look to create an environment where all our junior cricketers can reach their potential. Many players go into the Middlesex and Surrey county programmes in addition to playing at The Wick. We also nurture our more developing players at all age groups to help them maximise their enjoyment of the game. We place particular importance on helping our juniors transition into the adult game from U13 onwards. Junior players contribute significantly to the success of the adult teams and our aim is for our junior players to continue to play as adults and enjoy playing cricket as a lifelong sport.
