Junior member Code of Conduct
At Hampton Wick Royal Cricket Club, we want every junior player to enjoy their cricket, improve their game, make friends and feel proud to be part of the club.
When you play, train or represent the club, we ask you to follow this Code.
As a junior player, I will:
- Try my best
I will give my best effort in training and matches, whatever the result. - Be a good team-mate
I will encourage others, celebrate their success and never laugh at someone for making a mistake. - Respect coaches, managers and volunteers
I will listen when coaches are speaking, follow instructions and remember that our club runs because people give up their time to help us. - Respect umpires and officials
I will accept the umpire’s decision, even if I disagree. I will not argue, show dissent or make comments from the field or boundary. - Respect the opposition
I will play hard but fairly. I will not sledge, tease, intimidate or try to upset other players. - Play in the spirit of cricket
I will be honest, fair and sporting. Winning is great, but not if it means behaving badly. - Use kind and respectful language
I will not swear, bully, threaten, make fun of, or discriminate against anyone. - Look after the club and its equipment
I will treat bats, balls, stumps, nets, changing rooms, pitches and the clubhouse with care. - Be safe and sensible
I will wear the right protective equipment, warm up properly, and tell a coach if I am injured, worried or unsure about anything. - Behave well online
I will not post unkind comments, embarrassing photos or videos, or anything that could upset another player, team, coach or club. - Be proud to represent the club
Whether I am batting, bowling, fielding, scoring, carrying drinks or supporting from the boundary, I will behave in a way that helps the team and reflects well on the club.
If I am worried about something
If I feel unsafe, unhappy, bullied, left out, or worried about another player, I can speak to a coach, team manager, parent/carer, or the Club Safeguarding Officer. Asking for help is always okay.
Remember
Cricket should be fun. We want to win, we want to improve, and we want to challenge ourselves — but above all, we want everyone to feel safe, welcome and part of the team.
